About the Disaster Kingdom project:
From the mind of Magical Trash Mountain, Disaster Kingdom is a recontextualized digital and mixed media archive. It exists in the spaces where the traditional physical world and the digital become entangled, muddled…like where a river meets the sea.
It’s an exploration of liminal spaces…
between darkness and levity, fact and fiction, consciousness and subconsciousness, past and future, concrete and abstract.
Currently, the Disaster Kingdom project is divided into two subprojects:
1. The Disaster Kingdom Library District
2. Vignettes from Disaster Kingdom
Vignettes from Disaster Kingdom is a series of collage animations, each paired with a haiku or limerick. All are set in the semi-fictional dystopia of Disaster Kingdom (based heavily on our unfortunate contemporary reality). All the fodder for these works is scanned from Magical Trash Mountain’s extensive collection of antique paper media, which has been gathered from thrift shops, estate sales, and Little Free Libraries over many years of foraging. The vignettes combine imagery and typography from the past, with dark humor and contemporary thematic elements. Their goal is to spark dialogue about our dire situation as we, collectively, fall into entropy.

"This round's on the house!
C'mon, raise a glass to the
bones of our future!"
Disaster Kingdom Vignette #2:
"MISLEADING TITLE:
Sinister structures sparkle.
Fiction usurps non."
Disaster Kingdom Vignette #1:
"Hop in. Buckle up.
Ignition anxiety.
Apocalypse vibe."
