A Chat with Magical Trash Mountain
A studio visit with the artist Magical Trash Mountain is a visual artist, archive recontextualizer, and enchanter of trash. Trained as a horticulturist, immersive artist, sculptor, and photographer, she relies heavily on improvisation and her wholistic worldview to create captivating experiences, regardless of the medium. Over the years, she has woven narratives into the landscape using stray rocks, found objects & second-hand plants; welded steel figures from fragments of old cars; used lost wax casting to transform plastic assemblages into timeless bronze; created intricate digital collages from her vast archive of antique paper media; and crafted immersive art experiences using all of the above (and then some).
