America the Beautiful: a Portrait of a Nation, 2017, Digital Collage Illustration from scanned paper media
Winner of Best in Show Award at The Studio Door's Proud+ 2020 exhibition, San Diego Gayborhood, CA.
The subject of this 2017 collage illustration, titled “America the Beautiful: a Portrait of a Nation” is trans visibility, diversity, and the visibility of other underrepresented groups in America...Juxtaposed with a traditional symbol of America (the Washington Monument) in order to highlight their majesty and conviction, and courage in the face of adversity.
As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, and a person with a trans partner, these moments serve as fuel to keep the fight going. They’re also reminders to not take anything for granted and appreciate those who fought to get us where we are now.
